Vigen Sargsyan, who heads the election list of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), urged Armenian voters to actively take part in the snap parliamentary elections as he cast his ballot in Yerevan’s 9/47 polling station.

Speaking to reporters, Sargsyan said that he expects to see a ‘more consolidated society' by the end of the day.

“I voted today for an Armenia where no one will ever allow the idea to divide the society into whites and blacks, since this would lead to the formation of an internal enemy, and the internal enemy in a besieged fortress is the worst thing that can happen,” he stressed.

Sasna Tsrer party’s MP candidate Varuzhan Avetisyan considers the snap polls as ‘an intermediate stage’ that will lead to new free and transparent elections in the country, he told reporters after casting his ballot in Yerevan’s 10/49 polling station.

The candidate said he has voted for ‘an independent and powerful Armenia that will become home to all Armenians.’

Artur Baghdasaryan, who heads the Rule of Law party’s election list, is strongly convinced his party will win parliamentary seats.

He told reporters that he has voted for Armenia’s development, innovative programs and creation of new jobs.

The We bloc leader Aram Sargsyan said the election campaign for today’s early voting was the best one ever, providing equal opportunities for all the forces running for parliament

Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan is participating in the elections to fully use his opportunities for the country’s development, strengthening and the welfare of people, he told reporters after voting in the 29/29 polling station.

He dismissed the reports alleging his party has made vote buying attempts, urging to hold accountable all those who are spreading disinformation.

ARF leader Armen Rustamyan said he has voted for the future of Armenia, for the great expectations all the Armenians pin on the elections.

Eleven political forces, including nine parties and two blocs, are vying for seats in the 101-member National Assembly.

2010 polling stations opened across Armenia at 8am Sunday as the country is electing a new parliament. The voting will be over at 8pm.

According to official data, 2,573,779 people are eligible to vote in the snap elections.
