2 killed, several wounded in shooting at nightclub in Oslo

Two people were killed and 14 wounded on Saturday in a shooting at a nightclub and in nearby streets in Norway's capital Oslo, police said. A suspect believed to be the sole perpetrator was apprehended, police told reporters.

Iran refuses Israeli charges of attacks in Turkey

Iran on Friday dismissed as "ridiculous" allegations by Israel's foreign minister while on a visit to Ankara that the Islamic republic was planning anti-Israeli attacks in Turkey. "The baseless allegations... are ridiculous and part of a pre-designed plot to destroy relations between the two Muslim countries," foreign ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said in a statement.

Toyota recalls electric cars over concerns about loose wheels

Toyota is recalling 2,700 bZ4X crossover vehicles globally for wheel bolts that could become loose, in a major setback for the Japanese automaker’s ambitions to roll out electric cars. Toyota Motor Corp. said Friday the cause is still under investigation, but the whole wheel could come off, risking a crash.

I lost nine children by miscarriage," revealed Stone, who is the mother of three sons through adoption: Quinn Kelly, Laird Vonne, and Roan Joseph. Man behind Norway bow-and-arrow attack found guilty

The Buskerud District Court sentenced Espen Andersen Bråthen to compulsory mental health care. Three forensic psychiatric experts who assessed him concluded he has chronic paranoid schizophrenia and was mentally ill at the time of the attack on Oct. 13, 2021. Both the prosecution and the defense had called for compulsory mental health care for Andersen Bråthen. 38-year-old Bråthen also was sentenced to pay compensations to the victims.

Iran says EU's Borrell to visit Tehran later on Friday

Iran said European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell will travel to Tehran for discussions on efforts to revive the country's 2015 nuclear deal. Borrell would arrive in the Iranian capital at night before meeting Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other officials, foreign ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said in a statement.

Two killed as Nio electric car falls from third floor office in Shanghai

The biggest bacteria ever discovered are the size of an eyelash

Scientists have discovered the world’s largest known bacterium, which comes in the form of white filaments in a swamp in Guadeloupe. At about 1cm long, the strange organism, Thiomargarita magnifica, is roughly 50 times larger than all other known giant bacteria and the first to be visible with the naked eye. The thin white strands were discovered on the surfaces of decaying mangrove leaves in shallow tropical marine marshes.

Buenos Aires apartment building fire kills 5, 30 injured

Two women and three children died in a Buenos Aires apartment building fire Thursday that saw 35 others rushed to several hospitals, emergency services said. The fire broke out at around 6:00 am on the seventh floor of a building in the central Recoleta neighborhood, and spread rapidly to the eighth floor, fire officer Pablo Giardina said.

Iran dismisses IRGC intel chief amid suspicious deaths of Iranian officers

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on Thursday replaced its intelligence chief Hossein Taeb, who had held the position for more than 12 years, the Guards said in a statement. “The Guards’ chief Major General Hossein Salami appointed General Mohammad Kazemi as the new head of the IRGC Intelligence Organisation,” Guards spokesman Ramezan Sharif said in the statement.

Ancient Inca tomb discovered under home in Peru capital

Scientists have unearthed an Inca-era tomb under a home in the heart of Peru’s capital, Lima, a burial believed to hold remains wrapped in cloth alongside ceramics and fine ornaments. The lead archeologist, Julio Abanto, told Reuters the 500-year-old tomb contained “multiple funerary bundles” tightly wrapped in cloth.

Myanmar's ousted leader Suu Kyi moved to solitary confinement in prison

The former leader, who is 77, has been held by the military since 1 February last year, when it ousted her democratically elected government, plunging Myanmar into chaos. She has since been charged with at least 20 offences that could lead to her spending the rest of her life in jail, including multiple counts of corruption, which each carry a maximum penalty of 15 years.
